Introduction

This project is supported by Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund. SDC was formed in 2019 and is a community-owned organisation established to help develop the Strathnairn community. The mission of the organisation is to invest in the community in order to empower the current and next generation in a sustainable way. We do that by seeking community values, creating action plans and seeking necessary resources to invest in the future and provide long term, sustainable benefits for the community.

What is a development trust?
As a member of Development Trust Association Scotland (DTAS), our business model is planned to follow suit in terms of community, ownership and investment.

  • Development Trusts are community organisations which are owned and managed by the local community through membership.
  • They aim to reduce dependency on grant support by generating income through enterprise and ownership of assets. All trading surpluses are principally reinvested in the organisation or the community.
  • They aim to achieve sustainable regeneration of a community or address a range of economic, social, environmental and cultural issues within a community.

Who are we?

We currently have six trustees who oversee SDC. We seek to work in partnership with various local bodies and community groups.

Background

To achieve our aims surrounding community development in the short term we require the support of a Consultant Funding Officer to seek funding opportunities for resources including a Community Development Officer, Local Place Plan and community housing. This will be a temporary role; with the length of the contract dictated by the funds we have available and what can be achieved within that scope.

At present we have up to £3,000 available for this contract. Please return quotations to contact@strathnairndevelopment.scot.
